Obon Festival  Zazenkai

We are pleased to announce our next retreats at Lakeland Zen Community in Lakeland, FL. We look forward to seeing you all. 

 

Obon Festival Zazenkai: Saturday, August 12th, 2023, 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM 

Cost: $25.00 donation. 

Please RSVP so that we are able to plan accordingly for the festival.

Please join us on Saturday, August 12th for a Zazenkai and Obon festival celebration. Obon is a traditional festival in Japan celebrating our ancestors. It is celebrated by Zen temples around the world in the middle of August each year. 

 

The day will begin with chanting and Zazen. Dokusan (one-to-one instruction) will be offered. Sangha dinner will be pot-luck style. Following dinner, there will be Zazen, and Obon Festival. This will include Kanromon - feeding the hungry spirits (Chanting Service) and the traditional lighting of the lanterns and celebration of ancestors. 

 

Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to practice together and celebrate those whose efforts paved the way for each of us to practice in this time, place, and in this way.
